Our Beacon Hill families and volunteers are the heart of our organization, and we all play an important role in making sure that our players have positive memories of their time playing ball.
Here you will find important information on our volunteer requirements and some helpful tools to assist you when it's your turn to step up!

- Serving on our Board of Directors
- Interacting with minors in any capacity (i.e. head coaches, assistant coaches, clinicians, adult chaperones, and team managers)

Criminal Record Check and Other Requirements
Beacon Hill is enrolled in the online Criminal Record Check (CRC). You can complete the application online in 5 minutes and the result is sent directly to Beacon Hill.
To request your CRC create your Certify account at certify.beaconhillball.com
Once logged in: select the appropriate Role, click on each requirement listed for instructions on how to complete the courses, and upload your documents.
Note for the CRC you only need to enter the date you applied for it. You’ll get an email reminder before any requirements expire so you stay compliant.
Some volunteering roles have supplemental course requirements such as:
- Little League Diamond Leader Training (one time, baseball only)
- Little League Abuse Awareness Training (annually, baseball only)
- Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders (every 5 years, baseball & softball)
If you cannot complete your CRC using the above method please email safety@beaconhillball.com for more options.
Important Notes for ALL Volunteers:
CRCs must be updated every two years.

Clothing
All players need to have their own plain grey baseball pants (no stripes or ribbing, please).
Each player will receive a hat, long-sleeved practice shirt, and socks — theirs to keep.
Team jerseys will be distributed and must be returned at the end of the season. If you do not return your jersey at the end of season, you will be responsible for a $50 payment.
Equipment
Players need their own glove, batting helmet, and rubber cleats. *parents are strongly encouraged to have their own helmet.
They must also wear pelvic protection (a “jock” or “jill”) to every practice and game.
Team bats are supplied. Players may purchase and use their own bat as long as it has the USA Baseball logo indicating it’s approved Little League. Bats without this logo will not be permitted!
How are teams selected?
Players league age 9 – 12 are assessed by coaches at the Oak Bay Rec centre at he end of February in an effort to balance ability across teams and ensure player safety. Following the assessments players are drafted by coaches.
Questions?
If you have questions about Minors baseball or are willing to get involved as a coach or assistant coach, please contact the VP Baseball at vpbaseball@beaconhillball.com
